Session 12: Holy Shift: Life Beyond the Beliefs We Inherited

For many Black women, questioning long-held religious beliefs can feel both liberating and deeply lonely. Faith has shaped our families, identities, traditions, and communities, so asking hard questions can come with guilt, fear, judgment, or even grief.

Join us for an honest conversation with Mandisa Thomas, Founder and President of Black Nonbelievers, a Certified Humanist Celebrant and member of the Godless Gospel Ensemble, Mandisa brings a fresh perspective for women who are questioning, deconstructing, navigating church hurt, or simply curious about what exists beyond the beliefs they inherited.

We'll talk about identity, family expectations, guilt, fear, grief, and what happens when the answers we were given no longer fit the lives we're living.

This isn't about convincing anyone what to believe. It's about creating space to ask questions without shame, trust your own voice, explore your values, and consider what meaning, spirituality, or life beyond organized religion might look like on your own terms.

Whether you're deconstructing, nonreligious, exploring a new spiritual path, still deeply rooted in faith, or somewhere in between—come as you are.

There is room for your questions here.
